Since our initial launch in India in the middle of July, we have experienced an overwhelming amount of love and gratitude about our new SMS (text message) replacement app, Truemessenger.

Truecaller’s SMS app is awesome. Can easily mark as spam from notification bar. Once done, will never get that type of sms in your inbox.— Aatif Sumar (@aatifsumar) July 30, 2015

3 weeks with TrueMessenger now. By far the best SMS app for Indians tired of spam. Highly recommended. http://t.co/k9MDtFTdX1— Mihir Patkar (@mihirpatkar) August 1, 2015

Taking Aim at Disintegrating Mobile Spam
Globally, spam accounts for 15% of all SMS messages sent, which represents 1.2 trillion spam messages each year. In the U.S. market, despite the growth of other categories, text messages are still the most used app today making it a prime target for telemarketers and fraudsters. These pesky messages come in the form of free gift card offers, marketing promotions and phishing scams, and often lead to more serious misuses of personal information and identity theft. Truemessenger attacks this problem head-on. With Truemessenger, people can take advantage of an organized inbox where they can always put a name to a number, and seamlessly block and filter spam text messages, which eliminates the possibilities becoming a victim.

How the App Works
The app is integrated with the Truecaller community of 150 million users, and has a network of more than 1.7 billion numbers from across the globe. With this integration, Truemessenger pulls information from social networks and automatically assigns photos, nicknames, and other contact information to incoming texts. Truemessenger even enables you to assign your own spam rules, just like you can with email. SMS spam is then either filtered out of your inbox or blocked altogether, so your inbox is kept clean, and you’re never left guessing who might be trying to reach you.
